When Darkness Descends by G.W Lucke

The Revelation Trilogy Part I

Blurb:

Five-year-old Tom Anderson cowered in fear while a mysterious stranger murdered his beloved grandmother, Jean Anderson, then disappeared. Now a young man crippled by guilt and anxiety, Tom's offered a chance for redemption, but it means leaving Earth behind. Dark magic transports him to the shadowy land of Enthilen where he begins the hunt for Jean's killer. However, unbeknown to Tom, his arrival in Enthilen has been engineered by Malphas, a cruel, exiled ruler who needs to capture Tom to bring forth an endless tyranny.

Tom is befriended by a giant stone-grell, Grin. They travel through treacherous lands seeking justice for Jean, but become entangled in the ongoing battle between Erstürmen rulers and Dobunni rebels for control of Enthilen. With the help of rebels Jacob and Athalee, and a mouldewerp called Dwarrow, Tom fights to evade the pursuit of the merciless Malphas. Time is running out to find Jean's killer before Tom succumbs to nefarious forces. Will he deliver justice, or will the opportunity be lost forever?

Set in a complex world of unique lands and creatures, When Darkness Descends blends mystery and adventure in a fast-paced, epic fantasy.

Review:

Toward the beginning we see an imperial prince taking on a conflict with the grells to get his city back...though it doesn't provide much insight into the entire story you can figure that the fight is about substantially more than simply the city itself, what was it that roused the prince to slaughter such a significant number of people?

These individuals, the realm adores an ancient God whom they accept to be the maker of human life. There are individuals who don't have faith in him and in this manner got executed and it is a fabled tale that their skull decorates the throne of Volardie.

After a couple of pages, enter a ruler, a voracious, narrow-minded and overambitious individual who needs to locate the hidden city in the entrails of Malang Gunya, the city they had quite recently won.
This lord albeit canny and savvy ends up being a power-hungry control freak with severe trust issues. The prince, in the wake of being controlled and determined what he ought to accomplish for his entire life, at last, arrives at a limit and murders his own father or was it simply greed that took control?

In the subsequent course of events, we see Tommy a little child who saw his grandma killed by somebody before his own eyes..now at 16 years of age, Tommy is guilt-ridden that he was unable to do anything for his grandma, whatever he is seeing is it a hallucination or reality?
As we talk about the composing style, the language is somewhat complex yet nothing that could not be helped from a dictionary.

The story is divided into two courses of events, one ancient and the other present day. The writing is smooth, no mistakes, no typing blunders, and no serious obscenities either. It was a fine pursuit, a book to which you can return on occasion.

Will the prince locate the concealed city?
What's hidden in the bowels of Malay Gunya?
Who and what precisely is the ancient God?
How the two courses of events cross one another?
How will the two heroes associate?
Who is the killer?
Will Tommy have the option to avenge his grandma?

I'll Rate This Book 4 out of 5 stars.
